Stirred by her experience as a hospice and oncology nurse, Suzanne O’Brien launches The Good Death Campaign and creates free end of life caregiver training for people around the world in 15 languages. The goal is to have free family caregiver training and a volunteer resource in every county and country in the world.
9/10 people want to be cared for at home when they become terminally ill.
- Hospice Gallup Poll.
A Recent Medicare survey determined that 98% of the hands-on care is done by family caregivers.
Families usually don't know the first thing about how to do end of life care.
100 years ago the skill of caring for the dying was handed down from generation to generation, today it is all but lost and this has devastating effects for both patients and families.
The Good Death Movement was created to change that. Former hospice and oncology nurse and pioneer in the Death Doula Movement Suzanne B. O’Brien RN has created free global training and resources to help patients and families have THE GOOD DEATH. Suzanne has worked at the bedside of over 1000 end of life patients and has trained over 369,000 end of life caregivers from all over the world from Buddhist Monks in Thailand to family caregivers in villages in Uganda.
The Good Death Movement and campaign provides free end of life caregiver training for people around the world in 15 languages. The goal is to train 1 million people and provide free family caregiver training and volunteer resources in every county and country in the world.
The Good Death Movement
What It Is:
Giving people back the skill of how to care for someone they love at the end of life. A skill that 100 years ago was handed down generation to generation- but today is all but lost.
Why It's Important:
Death is 100% natural and guaranteed part of the human journey. There are huge gaps in hospice care. Families usually don't know the first thing about how to do end of life care.
What You Can Do:
Learn the skills of how to care for someone who is dying before you ever need it. Share The Good Death Campaign.
“We simply forgot, Death is not a medical experience- it's a human one”
~ Suzanne B. O’Brien RN
