Lisa Kanarek
As a death doula, I provide comfort, support, and guidance to hospice patients and their families. My services include creating written and video legacy projects, facilitating conversations between a loved one and their family about their final wishes, and helping families understand what to expect at the end of life.
In addition, I present seminars and webinars about the role of a death doula and the issues families face with their loved ones in hospice. Each month, I host a Death Cafe, an open forum to talk about death, a topic not everyone feels comfortable discussing.
My inspiration to become a death doula came from the uncertainty and anxiety I felt during my father’s time in home hospice. My goal is to keep others from experiencing the same helplessness.
The dying process can be comforting and meaningful when care and understanding are provided before, during, and after a loved one’s final days. By working closely with a loved one and their family members, I help them understand the natural dying process and work to reduce their anxiety and fear. I know how it feels to lose someone close, and I am dedicated to supporting everyone involved during a challenging and emotional time.
