Supporting End-of-Life with grace, positivity, and dignity

The profound end-of-life transition is all about you, so let me share how I might be of service. I am Grace Thompson, honored to be a professionally trained Certified Doulagivers Specialist. It is my deepest calling to respectfully and compassionately support a person to experience a “Good Death,”  whether through advance planning or while navigating the final stages of life.

Every one of us deserves a “Good Death,” with grace, positivity, and dignity. It is time to reclaim death as a natural human experience instead of a medical failure in our culture.

Advance Planning: We plan for births, graduations, weddings, careers, and homes; yet not for the inescapable truth, that every one of us will die. We can plan our end-of-life at any stage of life or health. Plans, of course, may be changed at any time throughout life.

I am trained to provide professional guidance through the extensive variety of practical, emotional, spiritual, financial, and social aspects of end-of-life planning. I may offer resources for the legalities, and for taking the necessary steps to ensure those very personal and sacred wishes will be respected. This is all about you!

Advance planning provides a detailed road map, minimizing the need to negotiate logistics and deal with differing values, opinions, and wishes. Planning a “Good Death” enables all to better honor their loved one and begin to effectively process their bereavement.

Whether navigating an imminent end-of-life or planning in advance, we may choose to create a legacy project, an ethical will, a life review, or compose a eulogy and/or obituary. We may choose to live our best life by finding the gift of forgiveness of self or others, so we might leave this world in the greatest peace and love whenever that time arrives. We may plan a service: when, how, and where, and with whom to memorialize or celebrate life; explore the many choices for disposition of the physical body; and how loved ones might bid farewell.

End-of-Life Doula: From the time of a terminal diagnosis through bereavement, I am professionally trained to provide non-medical holistic support and education. Death can be as precious as birth, when we allow it.

This may include practical, emotional, mental, and/or spiritual components, as well as information about the physicality of death. This may help alleviate some of the fear and stress. Reinforcing the care plan established by hospice or palliative care, I strive to create an environment as comfortable and peaceful as possible for the transitioning person, including people and practical comforts identified as most meaningful.

I collaborate with a robust network of adjunct service practitioners, including Massage, Reiki, Reflexology, and chaplains of various faith practices, should any of those be desired.

A Good Death can support each one of us to leave this world with grace, positivity, and dignity.

If you would like to learn more, I offer a free 30 minute consultation to explore how I may support you and your loved ones now or in the future. I would be honored to speak with you.
